The FN Model 49, also known as the SAFN-49, is a historic Belgian semi-automatic military rifle developed by Fabrique Nationale (FN) in the years surrounding World War II. Designed by Dieudonné Saive, the rifle was adopted by several countries and produced in multiple national configurations and chamberings. The 8mm Mauser (7.92×57mm) version is associated with Belgian and Egyptian military production and is of interest to collectors of postwar military firearms and FN history.
